These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ScamHunter mobile application and the website scamhunter.app (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What ScamHunter is — and is not
ScamHunter analyzes content you submit (messages, emails, links, screenshots) and produces an informational assessment of how likely it is to be a scam, together with suggested precautions.
Important: verdicts are probabilistic, automated assessments — not legal, financial, or security advice, and not a guarantee. A "safe" verdict means no scam signals were found; it does not certify that content is harmless. A "scam" verdict is an automated assessment, not an accusation against any person or business. Always use your own judgment and verify through official channels before acting.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the rules of the app store you downloaded it from.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or submit content you have no right to submit;
- probe, overload, disrupt, or circumvent rate limits or security of the Service;
- reverse engineer, resell, or provide the Service to third parties as your own offering;
- use automated means to access the Service outside its intended app interfaces;
- use verdicts to harass, defame, or publicly accuse identifiable persons or businesses.
4. Free tier and subscriptions
- The free tier includes a limited number of checks per day, which we may adjust.
- ScamHunter Premium is an auto-renewing subscription purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Pricing and billing periods are shown in the App before purchase.
- Where offered, free trials convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store / Google Play subscription settings — uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by the respective app store under their policies.
5. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle data and forms part of these Terms.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. These Terms grant no rights other than the license in Section 2. You retain all rights to the content you submit; you grant us a limited license to process it solely to provide the Service.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers (AI processing, security databases, app stores). We are not responsible for third-party services, and their availability may affect the Service.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT VERDICTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE, THAT THE SERVICE WILL DETECT EVERY SCAM, OR THAT IT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF MONEY, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — INCLUDING LOSSES CAUSED BY ACTING, OR NOT ACTING, ON A VERDICT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR EUR 50 IF YOU PAID NOTHING. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED BY LAW.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or threatens the Service. Sections 6–9 survive termination.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced in the App or on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without affecting mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Disputes belong to the courts of the Czech Republic unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
